Measures to reduce emissions

The planned measures for emission reduction comprise the following:

Amorbach site

1.    Heating system optimisation:

  • Reduction of the flow temperature and hydraulic balancing.
  • Substitution of natural gas and fuel oil with climate-friendly alternatives by 2030.

2.    Cross-sectional technologies:

  • Optimisation of the compressed air system (minimisation of leakage, reduction of network pressure, heat recovery).
  • Conversion to LED lighting.

3.    Self-generation/photovoltaics:

  • Expansion of the photovoltaic system (88 kWp and a further 80 kWp).
  • Insulation of the roof.

4.    Green electricity:

  • Switching to 100 % green electricity by 2026.

5.    Climate-friendly mobility:

  • Introduction of climate-neutral vehicles by 2033.

1.    Heating system optimisation and heat recovery:

  • Optimisation of the heat recovery from injection moulding and utilisation of waste heat.
  • Conversion to electric instantaneous water heaters.
  • Conversion to energy-efficient heat pumps.
  • Optimisation of heating systems and hot water generation.

2.    Cross-sectional technologies:

  • Optimisation of the compressed air system (minimisation of leakage, heat recovery).
  • Conversion and optimisation of the LED lighting.

3.    Self-generation/photovoltaics:

  • Expansion of the photovoltaic system (320 kWp and further systems by 2030).
  • Utilisation of PV electricity exclusively for own consumption from 2030.

4.    Green electricity:

  • Switching to 100 % green electricity by 2026.

5.    Climate-friendly mobility:

  • Conversion of the vehicle fleet to climate-neutral vehicles by 2033.

Cross-Site Measures

1.    Energy measurement and monitoring system:

  • Implementation to identify waste heat potential and optimise energy consumption.

2.    Technological alternatives:

  • Evaluation and implementation of climate-neutral heating technologies such as hydrogen, heat pumps, or e-fuels by 2033.

3.    Management and organisation:

  • Appointment of an energy and sustainability manager from 2026.
  • Creation of a guideline for energy topics.

These measures are intended to fully eliminate emissions by 2033 and achieve climate neutrality.
